SES Families, This morning a transformer in a nearby neighborhood blew, creating a loud noise similar to a gunshot. Our staff immediately brought all students inside the building while administrators contacted law enforcement. A police investigation determined the source of the noise and that students or staff were not in danger. The transformer issue did not disrupt power at the school. We applaud our staff for their quick action in the interest of student safety and are proud of how our students conducted themselves during this stressful time. Thank you to our partners in law enforcement for their response and all they do to keep us safe.

I would like to apologize for the confusion associated with the JCS Attendance County-Wide System. There was a glitch in the system where every elementary family received a phone call about their child being absent. The office staff was frantically trying to answer the phone calls as they could. The phones were ringing off the hook and all four office personnel were trying as quickly as they could to respond to parents who received this call. It was a difficult time for parents and school personnel. Thank you for your continued support.

Jefferson County Schools is requiring all students PK-12 to wear a mask when indoors (except when eating lunch). This includes the bus. When outdoors, students will not have to wear a mask. This mandate is in effect until Sept. 27th when it will be re-evaluated at the School Board Meeting. Please remember to send your child to school with a filled water bottle each day. This water bottle will travel home each evening for a cleaning and refill for the next school day. Thank you very much.
