SES Kindergarten Staff

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Beloved characters from Matilda to Harry Potter marched through Shepherdstown Friday as the Annual SES Storybook Parade returned! For the first time since 2019, students from kindergarten through fifth dressed as their favorite characters from books and stories for the traditional walk through town. Shepherdstown Elementary School Librarian Leslie  Boyd said the event helps students engage with books in a different way.

"The storybook parade is a great way for kids to use their creativity and be inspired by the love of reading," Boyd said.

Students made a loop from the school that took them through German Street, where family, friends, and neighbors had gathered to cheer them on as they passed.
