JANUARY 31, 2024: We would like to provide an update on an external threat reported this morning. Working with our partners in law enforcement, Jefferson County Schools has learned that no credible threat existed to the communities of North Jefferson Elementary School, T.A. Lowery Elementary School, Wildwood Middle School, or Jefferson High School. Upon being detained, law enforcement determined that the suspect in question was training for the U.S. armed forces while wearing a weight belt and did not threaten any of our school communities. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

1/22/24: A Jefferson County School bus transporting students to Harpers Ferry Middle School was involved in a minor traffic accident this morning. There were no injuries when a vehicle rear-ended bus 1103 on U.S. 340 near Bolivar. First responders examined students on the scene before they were transported to school by another school bus. We appreciate our ongoing partnership with first responders and our transportation staff, who work to keep students safe.
